3-D origami differs from traditional origami in that the pieces are made of numerous individually folded strips of colored paper assembled into a three-dimensional shape, such as a sunflower or a ladybug. The folding technique is the same regardless of the size of the paper strip, making the process of folding the strips for projects meditative or maddening, depending on your point of view. The good thing about the repetition is that once the folding technique is mastered, one may make easily any of the projects in this book, which range from a small-scale strawberry requiring 89 folded pieces to an intricately detailed cow requiring 667. Crafter Martyn includes a handy guide for waste-free paper cutting, as well as tutorials for folding and assembly. Each project contains written instructions as well as an assembly chart that provides a visual explanation of how the pieces fit together. VERDICT Martyn's clever technique will appeal to paper crafters interested in trying something new, and the eye-catching finished pieces may win over curious crafters with a taste for cute crafts.
